fire on the forest

The primary cause of climate change on Earth are the consequences of fires, both for ecosystems and for global warming, as evidenced by new scientific research.

The study, signed by 22 scientists from various universities and research centers and published in the journal "Science", believes that the fires should be placed on deforestation in the "development", contribute one-fifth increase anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide, the preferred "greenhouse gas".

Scientists express concern that the fires were not included in climate models and invited the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change UN to incorporate more fully the fires in estimates of the state global warming.

The researchers stress that, apart from deliberate fires, fires break out on their own, they also affect climate and calling on governments to realize that the fires beyond the cost of their health, economy and society directly affect the climate change.

Combustion plants leads to a release of carbon dioxide, methane increases, smoke (tobacco) and particles in the atmosphere (aerosols), decreased absorption of solar radiation and the higher reflectivity.

According to the study, all with the fires of the world release a total amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere equivalent to 50% of carbon emitted from burning fossil fuels.

The study suggests that internationally the fires are more frequent in recent years and now appear even in areas normally not going to expect, as in tropical vrochodasi. Also worth mentioning is the vicious cycle of fire-climate change, fires overheat the planet, which triggers more fires etc.

The researchers point out that is just beginning to understand the impact of fires on climate, highlight the need for further research and suggest the formation of a holistic "science of fire."
